Bahrain All Practice

The final practice sessions of the season are in the bag.

fp3 was cut short, but only by nine minutes. We might have missed the odd quick lap, but the averages should give us some clues.

Hypercar

The average lap times

Ferrari #51 put in a decent number of strong laps to “win” the average over 25 laps, but Toyota seems more consistent the more laps you include. Aston Martin and Peugeot are up there.

Ranked by Top 25.
Note: these include deleted laps for track limits and pitlane violations. There were quite a few of these, including the fastest lap of all by BMW #20.

The shorter stint approach for for Aston Martin #009 continued into fp3.

As did Toyota’s approach of staying out longer.

All seem to indicate tyre deg might be something to manage in the race. Michelin have brought the medium and hard compounds as last year1.

Despite the fastest times in fp3 being slower than yesterday Ferrari #51 put in enough good laps to bring their averages to below others.

fp2 was the one were everyone tried harder for qualifying practice. A few set their fastest in fp3, again early on in the session.

Top Speed

Frenchies at the top. Toyota makes a surprise appearance here. Porsche has the fastest recorded speed which helps in this relatively small sample size.

Lappery

#15 started fp1 late, so was down there. #99 didn’t get any running in fp2 due to a wiring issue that they couldn’t solve in time1, but they got out in practice the following day.
Toyota lead the way in practice laps which will have helped their averages.

Sectors

Peugeot – Ferrari- Aston Martin share the spoils. Porsche #99 bottom everywhere. Ferrari seems to have gained pace in sector 2.
Toyota lurk in all sectors.

LMGT3

After fp3 the Akkodis Lexus has climbed to the top. Over the longer average Iron Lynx still leads the way.

Unlike Hypercar there is more of a mix between sessions when fastest laps are set, but they still tend to come early in a session.

#88 put in some of its fastest laps in the middle of the session. It can be more mixed up in GT as the Ams get a go.

A bit on in and out of the pits before what looks like a qualifying practice run for the silver Gehrsitz in #78 on Saturday.

Speed Trap

Mercedes showing some good top speed. Lexus at the other end, which is unusual.

Lappery

#92 Manthey Porsche leads the way as it has in previous Friday practices! It is what it does! #87 Lexus didn’t get much lapping in during fp2, but put a lot in during fp3. This got it near the top of the averages.
