Detroit BoP hits Porsche

A hit to power and no compensation at high speed.
The lower activation speed remains for the street circuit.

Power to Weight

Aston Martin stays at the top, but is joined by Acura. Not good for Aston. Cadillac gets a boost too, but to a lower degree.

BMW has been strong, hasn’t got the results. However it is the performance that counts. It was super close between Porsche and BMW in Laguna Seca. The battle and speed was super super close between the two Penske Porsche and one of the BMWs. Here the BMW gets pinged more than the Porsche.

There is still a wide range, but now three groupings. Aston Martin and Acura, BMW and Cadillac, and Porsche on its own. The relative rankings of those in both series are similar to WEC now. Slightly wider here, and with Cadillac having a little win in IMSA. The magnitude of the base power:weight should be different considering the style of circiuts and the influence of high speed power adjustments.

Here is how those changes occurred by Weight and low speed Power. Changes are driven by both with decreases of weight and increases of power being coupled together for Cadillac and Acura, and the opposite for Porsche and BMW. IMSA doesn’t worry about wild swings! It’s all for fun after all

Weight

Power

IMSA are still quite happy to go under 500kW for some. 480kW is the new low in BoP for a race.

High Speed Power

The high speed power activation speed remains at 190/200kph for Detroit.

High Speed power adjustment introduced from 2024 Daytona BoP test. High Speed power >250kph, except 2025 Laguna Seca and Detroit >200kph.
IMSA.

Replenishment Rate

A full 100% energy stop is still 40 seconds.
