FIA WEC Imola Build-Up

Ah, Italy. Great food, great wine, great motor racing…

…and sun!

LMGT3

Manthey and Iron Dames lead the way in laps completed. There was a little difference in approach. On Saturday it ended with lots of short runs for both before qualifying.

Manthey’s longest run was at the end of fp2. The fastest lap came from Pera at the beginning of fp2.

Iron Dames did a long run towards the end of fp1 and this is where Gatting set the car’s fastest time. Towards the end of fp2 there were some shorter runs, but nothing to write home about with lap times. They did not get through to hyperpole.

The #46 BMW is on pole for the race. The built towards the pole time over the weekend.

LMGT3 lap times and trap speeds

#46 BMW leads the way with consistent lap times. Lexus is up there with quick laps; #87 grabbing the fastest. Ferrari put in some good laps in fp3 to jump up above Lexus.

It is Lexus with the top speeds. Notably Ford is high up in the ranking.

That straight line pace helps in S1. The order changes in each sector, but this gives a good idea of the front runners.

HyperCar

BMW and Toyota leading the way. Toyota #8 did a lot of laps in fp1, but less in fp2 and fp3.

Magnussen did the bulk of the running and BMW really was concentrating on those long runs and tyre knowledge. The fast laps are few, and significantly quicker than most practice laps.

Pole easily went to #51, after it’s sister car couldn’t avoid track limits, and a troubled morning for #83.

After that #51 rotated through their drivers with relatively short stints.

#8 also did more longer runs than #7. It didn’t get under 90s, so the scale starts at a different point! Difficult to read, but could have some race pace?

Hypercar Lap Times and Trap Speeds

It is easily Ferrari’s race to lose, specifically #51s

The spread shows that the Top 60% is impacted by approach to practice and also helped by doing more laps.

Peugeot is last despite it’s High Speed BoP adjustment.

Three cherries for #51. Again demonstrating it’s dominance so far.
