A look at how the performance will feed into Brazil’s BoP.
Previous Three Race Performance
To come up with these the rule makers compare to the last three race. So let’s start by reminding ourselves of the order in those races.
What did the last three races look like:
Updated three race average (Qatar, Imola, and Spa). The races that have dropped out of the calculation are included for reference.
Combined Peak and Stint Performance
· | 24.6 COTA | 24.7 Fuji | 24.8 Bahrain | 25.1 Qatar | 25.2 Imola | 25.3 Spa |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1st | Toyota | Cadillac | Toyota | Ferrari | Ferrari | Ferrari |
2nd | Alpine | Porsche | Ferrari | BMW | BMW | Alpine |
3rd | Ferrari | BMW | Porsche | Toyota | Toyota | Peugeot |
4th | BMW | Alpine | Alpine | Cadillac | Alpine | Cadillac |
5th | Cadillac | Toyota | BMW | Peugeot | Peugeot | BMW |
6th | Porsche | Peugeot | Peugeot | Alpine | Porsche | Porsche |
7th | Lamborghini | Ferrari | Cadillac | Porsche | Cadillac | Toyota |
8th | Peugeot | Lamborghini | Lamborghini | Aston Martin | Aston Martin | Aston Martin |
The average of all those combine peak and stint performances these three rounds:
· | Manufacturer | 25.1 Qatar | 25.2 Imola | 25.3 Spa | Average | Adjustment Needed | Best 2 only Adjustment |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Ferrari | 1 | 1 | 1 | 100.00% | -63 bps | -52 bps |
2 | BMW | 2 | 2 | 5 | 100.37% | -25 bps | -29 bps |
3 | Alpine | 6 | 4 | 2 | 100.50% | -12 bps | -12 bps |
4 | Toyota | 3 | 3 | 7 | 100.50% | -12 bps | -18 bps |
5 | Cadillac | 4 | 7 | 4 | 100.62% | +1 bps | 0 bps |
6 | Peugeot | 5 | 5 | 3 | 100.64% | +2 bps | +10 bps |
7 | Porsche | 7 | 6 | 6 | 100.77% | +14 bps | +22 bps |
8 | Aston Martin | 8 | 8 | 8 | 101.60% | +97 bps | +80 bps |
Average | 100.63% | 0 bps | 0 bps |
Best 2 only is the calculated adjustment if only the best two rounds for that car is considered!
Aston Martin now has performance data in each of the three races.
Porsche no longer has a penalty.
Le Mans is outside this methodology.
Speed Trap
Repeating the same exercise for Speed Trap data here is the ranking by race:
· | 24.6 COTA | 24.7 Fuji | 24.8 Bahrain | 25.1 Qatar | 25.2 Imola | 25.3 Spa |

2nd | Alpine | Porsche | Toyota | Ferrari | Ferrari | Ferrari |
3rd | Lamborghini | Alpine | Porsche | Peugeot | Alpine | Cadillac |
4th | Peugeot | BMW | Ferrari | Alpine | Cadillac | Peugeot |
5th | BMW | Peugeot | Alpine | Porsche | BMW | Toyota |
6th | Porsche | Cadillac | Cadillac | Toyota | Porsche | BMW |
7th | Toyota | Toyota | BMW | Aston Martin | Aston Martin | Alpine |
8th | Cadillac | Lamborghini | Lamborghini | Cadillac | Toyota | Aston Martin |
The average of all those speed trap ratings these three rounds:
· | Manufacturer | 25.1 Qatar | 25.2 Imola | 25.3 Spa | Average | Adjustment Needed |

7 | Alpine | 4 | 3 | 7 | 98.44% | +34 bps |
8 | Aston Martin | 7 | 7 | 8 | 98.04% | +74 bps |
Average | 98.78% | 0 bps |
The Porsche data from Spa shows a very high top speed. There is a possibility that there was a lot of tow effected laps. The only attempt to counteract this is to disregard the top 20% laps (and bottom 40%). This may not have been good enough for the Porsche. A lot of good trap speeds came as it was fighting its way back up after the lap 1 spin.
In Brazil last year the speed trap data didn’t appear to be near the end of the straight.
These will referenced against the last three races BoP position.
