A fuel leak from the filler hatch meant that the #33 Lola only got 1 lap in the four hour fp1 session, putting it on the back foot for the rest of practice. .
In P2 the most common session to set your fast lap was q2, including the pole lap. Ayari crossed the line to start the pole lap with only 30 seconds to go in the session. Although by then he was comfortably on pole by nearly 1s.
Ayari’s run was six laps. He got down to 3:45 on the second lap and then had a resting lap easing off everywhere, particularly on the Mulsanne. He then set three great laps edging the pole lap further out of reach of the others.
